Bunker shots and a Supreme Green

I’ve been banging on about how much I love my Supreme Green for a while now. I really do enjoy using it and feel very lucky that I’ve been fortunate enough to live the dream and build my own golf paradise in my backyard.

And probably my favourite pastime is being able to hit bunker shots. It’s a huge part of the game and lots of golfers struggle with it. If you’re thinking about getting a synthetic green then you really should consider adding a bunker to your setup. In my mind it really finishes off your project – the bunker stands out and adds definition. If done properly, your backyard practice environment will look like the real deal.

And best of all, the extra bunker practice will definitely help your game. You’ll have more confidence with your approach shots and if you happen to miss the odd shot, you’ll be able to get out of the sand trap each time.

I shot this video this afternoon from my bunker. It’s my favourite shot to practice and it has enabled me to improve my short game. I’m going to bet if you can spend a few minutes each week working on this shot, your entire short-game will improve. From here it’s easy to see 3-6 shots drop from your score. And at the risk of repeating myself, watch how the ball reacts when it lands on the green. It’s realistic and adds to the enjoyment of practice.
